Two-year Report to the Community
August 2005 - August 2007
How is Ventura doing?
In August 2005, the City Council unanimously adopted Ventura's General Plan - a community-driven vision to assure our city's future as a great place for us to work and enjoy life.
This report to the community details what's been achieved during the first two years, what to expect soon and ways residents can work as partners to further the plan's strategic visions.
These goals include a community that is Active. Safe. Educated. Natural. Creative. Prosperous. Well Planned. Accessible. Sustainable. Involved. And a government that is accountable for working with the community to achieve these visions.
Our General Plan calls for measurable results by every department regarding smart growth, high-tech jobs, safe neighborhoods, a vibrant cultural life, and well-maintained streets, parks and water systems, aligned to a budget that's accountable to our engaged citizens.
Take a look inside and you'll find there's much to be proud of, but also a lot of work ahead to reach our goals.
Achieving our vision is a job for the entire community, not just city government. That's why active citizens are key to success.
Only by working with partners from our schools, civic groups, elected offi cials, businesses, neighborhoods and non-profits can we attain our vision of a city that remains a great place for all of us.
We encourage you to get involved in your community. Look for the "Click and Connect" features on every page.
We thank you for your feedback on this report - and ways we can work together for a better community - by using the "My Ventura Access" feature on the City of Ventura website at www.cityofventura.net.
