City Surveyor
The City Surveyor checks maps showing new streets or lots to assure that they are technically correct. If you are interested in preparing a map that subdivides your property, contact the Planning DivisionMaps showing property boundaries, Corner Records and other survey documents are available at the Engineering Services Division counter at the County of Ventura Government Center Administration Building on Victoria Avenue at Telephone Road in the City of Ventura. The phone number is (805) 654-2068.
If you are interested in having your property surveyed, you can hire a licensed land surveyor. Professional organizations, such as the California Land Surveyor's Association provide useful information on how to choose and work with a land surveyor.
Tie Sheets
Tie sheets are available to assist land surveyors
in retracing the centerlines of streets.
Property boundaries are often referenced to survey markers in the street.
Tie sheets can be downloaded below, or copies can be obtained from the
Engineering counter in Room 117 at City Hall in downtown Ventura. The
Engineering Counter also has additional street intersection ties in City
Fieldbooks. The phone number is (805) 654-7829.
Technical Information Regarding
Tie Sheets
The tie sheets have been scanned into multi-page .tiff files. The tie
sheets have not been annotated or updated but are in the original format
as submitted to the City. The tie sheets for each tract were assigned
a City file number. This has been used to name the file. Each file may
contain more than one sheet. Some tie sheets have been scanned twice using
different exposures: one scan provides the best view of the inked ties
and the second scan allows the background map to be seen. For those that
were scanned twice, there will be twice as many images in that file as
there are sheets. Three indexes have been prepared to find the City file
number for the Ties Sheets. The List by Tract Number is self explanatory.
The List by Tract Name is for older tracts that used names. The List by
Street Name shows all the sheets that have ties on that street.
How To Download Tie Sheets
Warning: The Tie Sheets are large tiff files (250KB - 1MB) and may take
a long time to download. The download time will depend on your Internet
connection.
Find the tie sheet you want by tract
number, tract name,
or street name: A - F,
G - P, Q
- Z.
You can also get a zipped file of all tie sheets here. This is a 230 MB file and will take several hours to download depending on your Internet connection and speed.
