Are there volunteer groups which help out with beach maintenance?
Yes. We have about 450 dedicated volunteers that complement our efforts to maintain our beaches. This is coordinated through the City of Ventura's Partners In Progress program, which is a public/private partnership, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Ventura's natural resources. Adopt-A-Beach is part of the Partners In Progress program, which involves a one-year commitment to care for a favorite beach location with a minimum of 6 beach cleanups each year. Partners In Progress provides volunteers with all of the necessary training, support and supplies.
The Adopt-A-Beach program consists of 14 locations, including City and State beaches, the Pier and Promenade.
