Ask the Director
Where are the City beaches and how often are they cleaned?
The City owns and maintains the beach between Surfer's Point and the Pier and the area south of the State Beach to Harbor Cove. Every day City crews pick up litter and report any hazards on the beach. In the summer months, large equipment is used to remove debris and groom the sand. The dunes in the Pierpont area are maintained by hand rather than mechanized equipment to protect the sensitive habitat. Since machinery is not used here, the sand is not sanitized at the same level as the less environmentally sensitive areas.
