School Resource Officers on High School Campuses this Fall

School Resource Officer

In partnership with the Ventura Unified School District, three City police officers will be assigned as School Resource Officers (SROs) when the public high schools return to session in mid-August. The officers are assigned to high school campuses during school hours, and work constantly to assess and provide a safe school environment. SROs act as liaisons between students, schools and social service agencies that provide needed services; patrol campus, handle calls for service, and educate students, faculty and parents on legal and law enforcement issues.

Join Local Leaders for Peace Garden Dedication Saturday, Aug. 9 in Plaza Park

In partnership with a number of local peace activism groups, the City of Ventura will dedicate Ventura's first Peace Pole in downtown's Plaza Park on Saturday, August 9 at 1 p.m. Plaza Park is located in downtown Ventura at Santa Clara and Chestnut Streets, across from the Post Office.

Water Rates: Clean Drinking Water, Safe Wastewater Disposal and Environmental Protection

Water ratepayers in the City of Ventura have received information on proposed seven percent increases to water and wastewater billing over the next two years. These funds can only be used to provide water and wastewater services.

While the City has implemented significant energy and fuel savings measures and carefully scheduled its capital improvement projects, rising energy costs, stricter environmental regulations, and an aging pipe system undergoing replacement call for rates to support the system's operating expense.

Do you have any questions or an interest in having someone speak to your organization or neighborhood council about the services the City provides you? Contact Gary Lee at 805-652-4523 or glee@cityofventura.net, or visit the City of Ventura's website.
