Regional Planning to be the Focus of Workshop
The Ventura County Civic Alliance will host a "Compact for a Sustainable Ventura County" community workshop on Thursday, June 7th from 6:00-9:30 p.m. at Cal State Channel Islands University in the Malibu 100 Building.
The community workshop will give residents an opportunity to create and evaluate growth scenarios and identify a preferred regional future, a shared vision of what Ventura County residents want the region to look like over the next several decades.
During the workshop, groups of 8 will be formed and use a base map of Ventura County along with development type chips working with a forecast, to create their own ideal growth scenarios for the County. Each scenario will be recorded in GIS and used in creation of three alternative scenarios for testing.
The strategic program goal is aimed at mobilizing people and civic organizations to work together across boundaries to address the many challenges related to regional growth and sustainability.

Westpark Management Plan to be Developed
The City of Ventura Parks Division and Community Services Department will be leading an effort on Ventura’s Westside to develop a management plan that will help shape the Westpark Community Center and Park to better meet the needs of the community in the 21st century. Currently, the center serves as the site for after school enrichment programs, youth sports and Police Activities League events.
There will be a three-day workshop (Charrette) where residents can talk to planners and architects (RNT Architects) about ideas for the community center and park and help draft the designs that will shape Westpark for the decades ahead.
The three-day workshop (Charrette) will be held at Westpark Community Center from Thursday, May 31 to Saturday, June 2.
Although not limited to the time slots listed below, residents are encouraged to stop by and provide their feedback during the following hours:
