A little over three years ago I began painting, not as a career change, but as a gift for my husband. I saw a picture that he really liked and so I thought I’d paint it. Easier said than done. I thought the picture turned out terrible. It still sits in my studio. But I was hooked and since then I’ve strived to grow and paint in such a way that whenever I begin a painting, my goal is to take the viewer to a nice place, maybe a memory of a pretty scene or a place in childhood that has nice memories or just to remind the viewer of the beauty that surrounds us all wherever we may live. Painting has become a joy and a challenge. I have been painting in oils and mainly landscapes, but with a desire to grow in my ability and knowledge of the medium, always with the underlying goal as an artist to bring, in a small way, the beauty around us to the canvas.
