My current work is an exploration of the relationships of color through a series of observations and responses on canvas, using music as an inspiration. Music gives me a sense of place - of atmosphere that I like to create and respond to on canvas.

I'm not really translating - but rather responding to the movement and dynamics of sounds - with colors, textures and layers.  I often ‘hear’ colors and light.

I usually begin a painting with only the concept of the first color.  I rarely see past that first step until I lay the color down.  The colors and passages then reveal themselves to me, telling me what comes next, and eventually telling me when to stop. 

The inspiration of music is probably the most common denominator in my painting, regardless of what visual elements I'm exploring at the time.
