The
current series of paintings by Lois Freeman-Fox are mixed media,
painted originally on the computer using photographs to create brushes,
texture, backgrounds as well as subject matter to tell stories about
friends and family. The series began as a way of channeling the
ancestors, some of whom were artists themselves, to imagine the world
they lived in and to correlate that period to the art movements that
were taking place at the time.
Freeman-Fox has a passion for
drawing as well as photography and collage and these paintings, created
in Corel Painter, offer a way of expanding and exploring these
media. Freeman-Fox prints them in her studio in Fillmore using
archival inks on canvas and adds to them using oil and acrylic paint
and collage techniques.
