Cultural Arts Classes
The CAD provides a range of classes in the visual, performing and literary arts, aimed at adults, children and senior populations. The Cultural Affairs Division also offers a range of art classes at selected elementary schools, taught by professional artists.

Specialized Cultural Enrichment Programs
Cultural Immersion & Literacy
Each summer the CAD presents cultural immersion programs designed to enlighten
and enrich students using a hands-on approach to arts and education. In
2004 a literary arts camp was presented called “Jumanji: An Artventure
Literacy Week.” It included a recitation of the story “Jumanji,”
journaling, theatre, dance, music and mask-making. Children also worked
with professional artists creating all theatre props. A theatre presentation
was staged on the last day of the camp.
Theatre
The CAD offers an active drama program, including a summer Theatre Enrichment
Week that includes intense song and scene study and theatrical productions.
These programs, taught and directed by professional actors/directors,
are designed to awaken the creative spirit and imagination through acting,
music and movement.

Technical Assistance
The technical assistance program provides management assistance and professional development programs for arts organizations and individual artists. Annually, the Cultural Affairs Division and the Ventura County Art Council co-host a one day conference that includes sessions relevant to the professional development of both artists and arts administrators. In addition, CAD offers workshops throughout the year on topics of interest to arts professionals such as marketing, portfolio development, audience expansion and fundraising.
