After School Sports
Elementary After School Sports is a noncompetitive four-week program held at some of the Ventura Elementary School playgrounds. In the Fall, Winter and Spring we offer basketball, soccer, baseball and field hockey for children in 1st through 5th grades. Basic sports skills, sportsmanship, fun and equal participation for all are emphasized.
Middle School Sports is for boys and girls of all skill levels in grades 6-8. Sports offered during the school year are volleyball, flag football and tennis. Practices and games are held after school from 3:30 - 5:00pm. Qualified coaches emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, participation and fun.

Ventura Youth Basketball Association (VYBA)

The Ventura Youth Basketball Association (VYBA) is a program administered by the City of Ventura Community Services Department. The Department works with an advisory board of community members to administer the activities of the program.
Celebrating its 50th Anniversary, VYBA has been recognized as one of the largest, most respected programs in the State. VYBA is made up of over 1,400 boys and girls grades 3 - 12 with a "Half Pint Hoops" program for 2nd graders.
Ventura Youth Sports Academy
The Ventura Youth Sports Academy is a new program
offered by the City of Ventura Community Services Department.
The Academy offers clinics for young athletes ages 3 - 14, in a number
of sports including:
- Start Smart Sports
- Half Pint Sports
- Basketball
- Girls Fast-Pitch Softball
- Boys and Girls Volleyball
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Football (non-contact)
Individual sports clinics are primarily for the serious youth athlete that is looking to improve his/her performance in a specific sport. Start Smart and Half Pints are introductory programs for 3-8 year olds and their parents.
The Youth Sports Academy uses the S A Q (Speed Agility Quickness) program as the basis for each specific sport clinic. The S A Q Program provides drills, training and skill development that apply to all sports activities. S A Q is a training program that is being applied by young athletes around the world to improve their performance.
