RECYCLING & WATER EDUCATION PRESENTATIONS


Free Recycling & Water Classroom Presentations

For 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades - These three one-hour classroom presentations are free for all 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade classes in the City of Ventura and Ventura Unified School District. Register here for these programs.

The Magic of Water
For 2nd grade classes in the City of Ventura and VUSD. Costumed characters visit your classroom to share information with your students about the water cycle, local water sources, and important water conservation issues. This free program includes:

  • A very brief slide show
  • Water Wizard World – this exciting grab-bag game will help your students spot water waste in their homes
  • Water cycle activities and songs

Composting with Dr. Rot
For 3rd grade classes in the City of Ventura & VUSD. Don’t miss this opportunity for a free one-hour earth science classroom presentation. Join “Dr. Rot” to learn about earth science, life cycles and their importance to the environment.
Students will also learn how composting and recycling can help conserve important resources. The program includes:

  • A brief slide show
  • Songs
  • Live worms & insects
  • Fun hands-on activities, including a costumed activity

Captain Hydro and the Water Bandits
For 5th grade classes in the City of Ventura & VUSD. Costumed characters visit your classroom to share information with your students about the water cycle, local water sources, and important water conservation issues. This free program includes:
  • A very brief slide show
  • Water Bandits activity – students will participate in Captain Hydro’s “Water Rehab” program,
    and even earn a diploma from “Golden Drip U”
  • Several team-type academic games including water jeopardy and water bowl

These programs are created and Presented by the City of Ventura Community Services Interpretive Outreach Program.
The Magic of Water and Captain Hydro programs are funded by the City of Ventura Water Conservation Office; Composing with Dr. Rot is funded by the City of Ventura Environmental Services Office.
