California Coastal Cleanup Day

Join the City of Ventura, Surfrider, Ventura City Corps and other environmental groups as we celebrate the 25th annual Coastal Cleanup Day by cleaning our coastline! Cleaning supplies will be provided.
Families, students, and community groups welcome!

Join the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy on Sunday, September 21st, 2008 at Arroyo Verde Park
You enjoyed the concert, now join in the fun as we clean up the park trails and play areas at Arroyo Verde Park. We will supply gloves, bags and pickup tools. Volunteers will be amply rewarded with delicious snacks and cool beverages -juice, water and sodas. Look for the VHC table set up near the first parking lot.

United Way Day of Caring - Cornucopia Garden Maintenance Project Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 10am to 1pm
Join City staff and members of the community in a day of gardening at the Cornucopia Garden. The Cornucopia Community Garden is a large community garden with 148 organic garden plots. The community garden, which is overseen by the City of Ventura's Community Services Department, provides citizens (who may live in apartments, condos, or other types of residence that have little outdoor space) the opportunity to garden. Volunteer help is needed to is maintaining the communal areas and pathways. Gloves and water will be provided to all volunteers. Pre-registration is required. Living History Day at the Olivas Adobe
Sunday, September 28, 2008
Join us as at the historic Olivas Adobe as we "step back in time" to the 1860's and recreate the days when the Olivas Adobe was known as Rancho San Miguel – the residence of Don Jose Raymundo Olivas, his wife Teodora, and their 21 children. Within the courtyard, docents will give tours of historical reenactments and activities common to that time. Outside the courtyard, there will be art, music, and other entertainment. Volunteers will be needed to assist in many different roles. Seeking bilingual volunteers to serve as actors/actresses in re-enactments and to serve as tour guides (docents).
