Construction Permits
Construction Services ensures the health and safety of citizens through enforcement of building regulations adopted by the City Council and mandated by the State, and ensures that the permitting process facilitates the construction of complying buildings throughout the City. Permit fees are collected that are sufficient to offset the cost of the Construction Services section. Construction plans are reviewed within a 2-4 week turnaround time. Building inspections are provided within 24 hours of the request. Code amendments are coordinated through the Ventura Chapter of ICBO for countywide uniformity.Scanning of all microfiche permit records for ready availability on personal computers of City staff and the public is currently underway. Construction Services ensures that all new construction will be built in conformance with the California Building Standards Codes through plan checking and building inspection processes. State mandated code training is attended by all administrative, plan check and inspection staff. Community education on the safety aspects of building codes for homeowners is provided by participation in community activities such as the Spring Home Show.
