City Clerk



The City Clerk's Office works with the City Council, City Manager, departments and divisions, and the public. The Department is responsible for overseeing the preparation of the agenda and minutes for the City Council and Redevelopment Agency, managing the City Council's official records, processing documents to carry out the legislative actions of the City Council, administering the City's elections, assisting in the recruitment of residents to serve on various City Council advisory boards, commissions, and committees, and processing liability claims.

Mabi Covarrubias Plisky
City Clerk

 

Mabi Covarrubias Plisky has served as Ventura's City Clerk since September 2004, and is responsible for the administration and management of the City Clerk Division. Plisky's experience includes 12 years as the elected City Clerk in Oxnard, five years as the Ventura Deputy City Clerk, and five years as the City Clerk Services Manager for the City of Santa Barbara. She is a native of Oxnard and is fluent in Spanish.

Request for Public Records
The goal of the City is to provide timely response to requests for any and all public records. Pursuant to the Public Records Act, the City will provide information within 10 days or advise you in writing of any exemption from disclosure or delay in providing the information and when it will be made available. Information that is readily available and not exempt, will be provided promptly. Requests that are not exempt from disclosure that require research, retrieval, and reproduction will be provided at the earliest date possible and, in any case within 24 days.

  • A charge of $.36 per copy will be made for documents copied (8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 14).
  • Copies of large maps and documents will be based upon the charge for outside copy service.
  • Video tapes - $29 per tape
  • Audio tapes - $7 each
  • CD Recordable (CD-R) / DVD - $1 each
  • Outside vendor copies will be based upon the charge for outside copy service
  • Expedited services - Actual hourly rate
  • Campaign Statements and Statements of Economic Interests - $.10 a copy
